Restorative yoga is a restful practice, designed to help you slow down.
The supported postures help you to relax and open your body. This style of yoga encourages physical, mental, and emotional relaxation. Restorative yoga is practiced at a slow pace, focusing on long holds in fully supported poses, stillness, and deep breathing.
Restorative yoga is gentle and therapeutic. At its core, restorative yoga is a practice of passive healing.
This yoga style is known for its ability to activate the parasympathetic nervous system. Also known as the “rest and digest” part of your nervous system that helps keep basic functions working as they should.
Because the poses are fully supported with props (bolsterst, blocks, blankets, etc), you are encouraged to relax fully in the pose while focusing on your breath. This practice allows you to release tension in your muscles for longer periods without discomfort.
Appropriate for all levels.
